Blockchain & Digital Assets: From regulatory grey zones to practical implementation
The official inclusion of digital assets and crypto assets into Vietnam’s legal framework under the Law on Digital Technology Industry, together with the pilot programs stipulated in Resolution No. 05/2025/NQ-CP, marks a clear transition for blockchain in Vietnam.
The industry is moving into a new phase characterized by controlled experimentation, stricter operational and compliance requirements, and a stronger focus on commercialization. This shift is reshaping not only business models, but also the talent needs of blockchain enterprises.
Insights from Tien Le – CEO & Co-founder of BlockchainWork: The emerging blockchain talent landscape
From the perspective of an organization operating at the intersection of blockchain talent and enterprise needs, Ms. Tiên Lê, CEO and Co-founder of BlockchainWork, observes that the period of 2026–2027 will see a notable transformation in hiring demand across the industry.
First, as regulatory frameworks become clearer, demand is rising significantly for roles related to compliance, operations, and risk management. These functions are becoming essential foundations for blockchain companies seeking to scale, collaborate with established institutions, and participate in officially sanctioned pilot programs.
Second, the market is shifting back toward real business models and sustainable revenue, driving stronger demand for Sales, Business Development, and Partnership roles. These positions require not only an understanding of blockchain technology, but also a solid grasp of business models and industry-specific applications.
Conversely, hiring demand for entry-level blockchain developers is slowing, while expectations for practical implementation skills, product understanding, cross-functional collaboration, and effective use of AI tools are increasing.
This transformation signals a more mature phase for the blockchain industry—one in which talent quality and the balance between technology, business, and compliance are critical success factors.
Blockchain adoption must be aligned with real business needs
A key message emphasized at the event by Mr. Phan Duc Trung, Chairman of the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association, was that blockchain can only create real value when it is closely aligned with practical operational needs and the actual business capacity of enterprises, rather than being pursued as a standalone technology trend.
In this context, blockchain adoption should be grounded in concrete use cases such as process optimization, capital efficiency, data transparency, risk management, market expansion, and the creation of new revenue models. Technology is not the end goal—it is a strategic tool supporting long-term business objectives.
The role of the community in the next phase
Dialogues and gatherings facilitated by industry associations play a critical role beyond networking. They help to:
-
Connect enterprises, talent, and regulatory stakeholders
-
Share realistic market insights
-
Enable the community to recalibrate expectations and strategies in line with a rapidly evolving landscape
BlockchainWork believes that a sustainable blockchain ecosystem cannot rely on technology alone, but must be built through close collaboration between policymakers, enterprises, communities, and a high-quality workforce.
Closing remarks
BlockchainWork sincerely thanks the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association (VBA), its Executive Committee, members, and partners for creating an open and meaningful space for connection and exchange.
As Vietnam’s blockchain industry enters a phase of more substantive and responsible growth, BlockchainWork remains committed to supporting the ecosystem by connecting talent, sharing market insights, and fostering the sustainable development of blockchain and Web3 in Vietnam—while bridging Vietnamese talent with regional and international career opportunities.
