Vietnam’s Growing Position in the Global Blockchain Ecosystem
In recent years, Vietnam has consistently been recognized as one of the most dynamic blockchain markets worldwide.
According to the Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption Index, Vietnam has remained in the global top five for cryptocurrency adoption since 2022, ranking fourth worldwide in 2025.
Data from Triple-A further shows that 17.4% of Vietnam’s population owned cryptocurrency in 2024, reflecting the increasing mainstream presence of digital assets within the country.
The Vietnamese crypto market was estimated to reach approximately USD 9.97 billion in 2024, with forecasts projecting continued growth at an annual rate of roughly 9–10% through 2033.
These indicators suggest that Vietnam is not only a large user market but is also gradually emerging as a regional hub for blockchain development and talent supply.
Globally, blockchain technology is also shifting from an experimental phase to real-world adoption across multiple industries. According to international studies cited in the BlockchainWork report, the global blockchain market is expected to reach USD 248.9 billion by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 65.5% between 2024 and 2029.
The growth is driven by several factors, including:
-
Increasing demand for secure and transparent data systems
-
Expansion of digital assets and the Web3 ecosystem
-
Adoption of blockchain across sectors such as finance, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, and public administration
New segments such as RWA (real-world asset tokenization), DePIN infrastructure, and Web3 platforms are also creating fresh demand for blockchain talent across both technical and non-technical roles.
Another global trend highlighted in the report is the shift in hiring priorities. Companies are increasingly seeking experienced professionals rather than junior talent, particularly for roles involving system development and blockchain security.
Research by 23studio using Glassdoor data indicates that globally there are roughly 26,000 blockchain engineers compared to about 440,000 open positions, meaning one blockchain engineer may be pursued by up to 17 companies. This highlights the intense competition among employers to attract experienced talent.
Regulatory Developments: A Turning Point for Blockchain in Vietnam
One of the most significant developments shaping the Vietnamese blockchain industry in 2025 is the evolution of the regulatory environment.
For the first time, crypto assets have been officially recognized as digital assets under the Law on Digital Technology Industry, creating a legal foundation for regulating and developing the market.
In addition, Resolution No. 05/2025/NQ-CP introduces a five-year pilot program for digital asset markets from 2025 to 2030.
Vietnam is also expected to implement a 0.1% personal income tax on digital asset transactions starting July 1, 2026, similar to the taxation framework used for securities.
These regulatory steps are widely considered a milestone that could help attract institutional capital and encourage the blockchain ecosystem to develop in a more transparent and sustainable manner.

Blockchain Hiring Trends in Vietnam (2025)
Strong Growth in Non-Technical Roles
One of the most notable findings from the report is the shift in hiring demand toward non-technical positions.
BlockchainWork data shows that:
-
53.4% of job openings are non-technical roles
-
46.6% are technical positions
This shift indicates that the blockchain industry in Vietnam is gradually moving beyond pure technology development toward commercialization, market expansion, and ecosystem growth.
Among non-technical roles, the most in-demand positions include:
-
Marketing – 34.4%
-
Sales – 17.3%
-
Design – 11.3%
These roles are essential for areas such as Web3 community building, blockchain project marketing, partnerships, and international market development.
Technical Hiring Focused on Infrastructure and Development
While non-technical roles are growing, demand for technical talent remains strong — particularly in core system development.
The most frequently recruited technical positions in 2025 include:
-
Backend Developer – 18.75%
-
Full-stack Developer – 17.08%
-
Blockchain Developer – 11.67%
Other specialized roles such as DevOps engineers, security engineers, data engineers, and AI engineers are also increasingly important, reflecting the integration of blockchain with emerging technologies like AI and big data.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as Talent Hubs
The blockchain job market in Vietnam is concentrated primarily in two major cities:
-
Hanoi – 51.7%
-
Ho Chi Minh City – 38.6%
Hanoi is increasingly recognized as a technology research and development hub, while Ho Chi Minh City plays a major role as a center for innovation, startups, and commercialization.
Compensation Trends in Vietnam’s Blockchain Industry
Blockchain professionals continue to earn competitive salaries compared with the broader technology sector.
According to the report:
-
Technical professionals with more than three years of experience earn an average base salary of around 30 million VND per month
-
Non-technical professionals with similar experience average around 25 million VND per month
Programming languages such as Golang and Rust are associated with higher salary ranges, while JavaScript remains the most widely recruited language.
Another notable feature of the blockchain job market is the flexibility in compensation structures.
Approximately 56% of job postings list salary as negotiable, allowing companies to tailor offers based on a candidate’s experience and capabilities.
Unlike traditional IT industries that often rely on standardized salary bands, blockchain companies frequently combine cash compensation with tokens, performance bonuses, and long-term incentives. This flexible approach reflects the globalized and highly competitive nature of Web3 talent markets.
Candidate Behavior and the Role of AI
Survey results from blockchain professionals in Vietnam suggest that job mobility in Web3 is relatively high.
About 48% of respondents reported working less than one year at each company, while only 13% had stayed with the same employer for more than three years.
When considering career moves, the top decision factors include:
-
Compensation – 68%
-
Skill development and learning opportunities – 66%
-
Leadership and team quality – 45%
Company reputation is also an important signal for candidates when assessing risk before joining a blockchain project.
The survey also reveals that candidates see AI as an accelerator rather than a replacement for human work.
AI is most commonly used for:
-
Research and trend analysis – 53%
-
Writing and testing code – 43%
-
Data analysis – 35%
Less experienced professionals tend to use AI for technical assistance and faster execution, while experienced professionals more often use AI for strategic analysis and information synthesis.

Market Outlook for 2026
The report identifies two major forces that will shape Vietnam’s blockchain job market in the coming years.
Deeper Integration of AI
AI tools are increasingly being integrated into software development, operations, customer service, marketing, and data analysis. While this improves productivity, it may reduce hiring demand for many entry-level roles, especially those involving repetitive tasks.
Recruitment strategies are therefore shifting toward mid-level professionals with at least three years of experience, particularly in areas such as:
-
Blockchain engineering
-
Security and auditing
-
System architecture
-
Web3 backend development
Companies increasingly prefer candidates who can contribute directly to product development rather than requiring extensive training.
Stronger Emphasis on Compliance and Regulation
As regulatory frameworks mature and traditional financial institutions become more involved in digital assets, blockchain companies will face higher expectations regarding compliance and risk management.
This shift is expected to drive demand for roles such as:
-
Business development and partnerships (B2B sales)
-
Compliance and legal specialists
-
Risk management professionals
-
Operations and regulatory reporting roles
As a result, entering the blockchain industry purely to “learn on the job” may become more difficult. Candidates will likely need stronger specialized skills and practical experience from the outset.
